Pre Course Requirements
What are the entry requirements to the course?
All 3 courses are aimed at installers and are FETAC level 6 supplemental awards, therefore the entry requirement will be a National Craft Certificate in a related trade (Electrical, Plumbing or Fitting) or a Level 6 qualification in a related area such as Building Services, G.I.D. etc. These are practical courses and a good knowledge of electrical and plumbing installation techniques is required in order to be successful in the assessments.
Plumbers currently working in the industry, who do not hold a national craft certificate but have suitable experience at this level, should contact Mr. Dave Collins at 1890 252 647 for eligibility purposes.
What do I do if I don’t have a craft certificate?
There are different requirements for persons who completed their apprenticeship in the time periods as follows:

Before 1st September 1976. Require
-
AnCO Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, or
-
A formal completed Indenture, or
-
Other acceptable documentary evidence of having completed the
appropriate period of apprenticeship

Between 1st September 1976 and 31st August 1982. Require
-
Documentary evidence of registration with AnCO
-
Proof of completion of apprenticeship, and
-
Proof of having been awarded the Department of Education Junior Trade Certificate
-
Between 1st September 1982 and 31st August 1986. Require
-
Documentary evidence of registration with AnCO
-
Proof of completion of apprenticeship
-
Proof of having been awarded the Department of Education Junior
Trade Certificate, and
-
Proof of having passed the Department of Education Senior Trade
Practical Examination
-
Since 1st September 1986. Require proof that they have
-
Been registered with AnCO or FÁS
-
Served their full period of apprenticeship
-
Completed their 1st year Off-The-Job course
-
Attended the full Educational Release Programme
-
Achieved a pass grade in the following:

1st year assessment programme and terminal test
-
Craft Theory Junior Stage
-
Craft Certificate Senior Stage
What other documentation will be acceptable to allow me attend the Chevron Training Solar course?
A GID certificate is acceptable. If you are registered with FAS to train apprentice in the related trades (Plumbing, Electrical or Fitting) then a letter from the FAS STB office in your region, stating that you can register apprentices will also allow you access to the course.

Our advice is upon successful completion of the renewable energy become registered with Sustainable Energy Ireland as a qualified installer.

SEI have provided 22100 grants to date, 49% of these have been for solar, 25% for biomass, and 26% for heat pumps, between March 2006 to December 2007.

By registering as a qualified installer you will be in a position to benefit from this valuable resource.

Prices are Solar €595 (3 days), Biomass €595 (3 days), Heatpumps 5 days.
This includes all course materials, tutorials, exam fees and lunch on each of the course days.
Full payment is required before the course commences. On payment participants will receive their course materials
Please note that you will be required to bring photo ID (driving license or passport) to sit final exam
3 recent photographs must be supplied to the course tutor on the 1st day of the course
Driving license or passport will need to be produced to sit exam on final day of course

Pre qualifications are required to attend these courses and proof of such qualifications will be required
Cancellation Policy: In the event of a participant needing to cancel their booking, our policy requires that a request is received in writing by Chevron Training & Development Ltd., no later than 30 days prior to the commencement date of the particular course signed up to. Receipt of any written request less than 30 days prior to course commencement will not be facilitated, as Chevron Training & Development Ltd will have insufficient time to fill that place.
